Having To Put Down A Pet
Very difficult even if necessary
My daughter picked Emma up at a shelter ten years ago. Emma had been well taken care of by a previous owner but was shy and scared. For a while, her favorite activity was hiding under the couch whenever someone came into the room.
Slowly she trusted my daughter and became social and affectionate. It was amazing to see this transformation brought about by kindness and patience.
Emma moved across the country twice with my daughter, saw her get married, and experienced the joy of a bigger house with lots of stairs to run up and down.
She became a lap cat. If she liked you, she would jump onto your lap. She was the most polite cat that I’ve ever seen, touching you gently with her paw when she wanted attention. She also knew her cutest poses.
Her eyes were always bright and her fur soft and luxurious. She got the best cat food, lots of toys to play with, and a plush and comfortable place in every room, hammocks and even a soft “cave” to sleep in.
