Medium Shortfalls
How Medium could improve
Medium is overall a good starting point for writers to get started and publish their work. However, there are some weaknesses that could be addressed to make the experience here more fruitful and pleasant.
Communication
Medium does not really make it easy to connect with other writers. Yes, we can like someone’s article, story, or poem. We can even comment. But that is asynchronous and can be tedious. I have made some connections here that then got lost because there is no easy way to stay in touch.
It is almost impossible to connect with an editor unless they comment first.
I did find a forum that some Medium members created that seems promising. If anyone is already posting there or is using it in some way, let me know. I am thinking about joining.
A comprehensive and organized list of publications
I discover new publication mostly by reading other writers’ articles and checking out where they are published.
