One question that came up in the comments to my article on Medium earnings over and over in different variations was…

  • How much did you earn from this simple story? So far about 60 dollars, not an exorbitant amount and insignificant compared to my other income sources. Someone who commented assumed I made $300 from this article. That would be nice, LOL.
  • How can you possibly earn this much from a story on Medium? I don’t know. I have written other articles on Medium before. They received a lot of likes but not the response (comments) that this article got. I assume I got this response because I hit a nerve. Many writers here have seen their earnings go down and no one know why.

One difference: I self published the last few articles. I seem to reach more people when I do that, which was actually the opposite of what I thought.

  • Why did I get so many likes? I guess people liked my article, and don’t forget: Everyone can click up to 50 times, so one thousand likes could only be 20 people if everyone clicked the maximum.
  • In general I don’t know why some articles receive so many likes (such as the one I wrote on an obscure Norwegian photographer) and others don’t. My article with tips on how to become a better writer didn’t get
