I often wondered why elections in this country are held in the dreariest month (November) on a Tuesday. In recent years, I voted early since they expanded their hours, but while I was working, it would have been hard to vote after work. Elections in Germany are held on weekends when people actually have time. Like you I vote on principle - even though I really don't think that my vote makes any difference.
