I had first hand knowledge of the ecological devastation in "socialist/communist countries." My grandfather got sick and his cattle just collapsed and died, and no one was allowed to ask questions. Capitalism is the best of all economic structures we have ever come up with, but it, too, is not perfect. We need to do with less. We cannot have growth forever if that means that we wreck our environment and the future sustainability of this planet. Thanks for the book list. I am familiar with the Club of Rome and read "Small is Beautiful" in the 80s, but I was not familiar with some of the others.
